Current Projects:

800 blankets and Towels for the Bomana Men’s Section:
Karen Sigley at Brian Bell approached us about a request from Sue Noordink at Bomana Jail. They are in need of 800 Blankets & 800 Towels for the men’s section. A check with Barbara (DIK) confirmed that we have nothing in “stock”.
Boroko (DIK) verbally confirmed nil stock but has a container coming ETA-TBA
Karen has provided a discounted total of approx K22, 000
Project is way too big for Community services to take on. Suggest this be brought under the clubs budget

PROGRESS: Project forwarded to Bill Waterfield to drum up DIK support from the project fair.

Pikinini Rumana:
City Mission through haus ruth has put together a housing project for homeless kids. The property requires white goods, beddings, kitchen utensils, clothing, TV and books.

Cost: K7,000
PROGRESS: A RC Pom circular to be issued to request for household goods prior to agreeing to a budget. Project has also been forwarded to the Project fair for DIK Support.

Salvation Army Outreach Services:
A program of activities to assist Aids orphans.
Responsible officers: Not Allocated.
Cost: K50,000
PROGRESS: Details posted on minutes of board meeting 14th Sept 06. Secretary Margaret was to enquire with Bill waterfield re emergency services. James has also been asked to provide a more detailed proposal.

Water Bores at Varai Raga on the Aroma Coast, Central Province:
Responsible officers: Not Allocated.
Cost: TBA
PROGRESS: The project details will be passed on to Ernie Lohberger to appeal to other clubs.

PMGH Playground: The playground is in need of additional equipment. Yacht club has offered to donate its playground equipment once the clubs new playground is completed.
Responsible officer: Megan Taureka
Cost: K7,000
PROGRESS: Follow up with Yacht Club on donation and the estimated time of completion of the new playground. Project also forwarded to the project fair for DIK support.

Kids Christmas or Annual Christmas Appeal: Rotary annual Christmas appeal is well known and supported within the community. Last year the event was replaced with a Christmas party for school children and residents of Cheshire homes.

Water Tank Project for the less fortunate school in NCD and Central Province
Schools that do not have a clean water system for the kids due to corroding pipes or continuously having supply disruption or do not have any system at all (those in central province)
6 mile Community school & Wild Life Community School -NCD
Kaparoko Community School & Hula Top up primary School -Central

Others

Port Moresby General Hospital Playground:
The hospital playground currently has very little play equipment on the playground. They only have a timber swing that has deteriorated to a state it cannot be used.
We are working on bringing in donations from local groups (i.e. play equipment) to build up the playground at the hospital. Responses within NCD has not been positive and we would like to extend this invitation to the Projects Fair
