As there is no Rotary club in Oro for years now Rotary club of Port Moresby has looked after this and the Kokoda track and area.
last year two health centers were built by the US navy in Pondetta, they were fitted out by Rotary. i am glad to say they are now both working well, one as a general aid center, the other as a maternity center. Rotary POM recently sent down two tons of Medicines and medical equipment like bandages etc, freight FOC courtessy of Consort Shipping, which were made into five equal sized lots and distributed to the two new health centers and 3 health centers in the bus, Dea, Sakurina and?.
Further RAWCS Eastern Region via Richard Manyweather sent us two full 20 ton containers of school equipment. this is being distributed to variuos schools in Oro with nearly all getting something, courtesy of Fiona Tanner, Dale McCarthy and the education dept.
also RAWCS inland Eastern Region purchased a new large ride on mowerfor use by the Rotary hospital in Kokoda and for use on the Kokoda Airstrip to keep the grass down. This has arrived in POM and Airlines PNG has offered to lift this in FOC as a donation to Rotary.
The Belrose Rotary club NSW sent 3 ECO toilets for use at schools on the Kokoda track, these arrived and have been carried in and assembled by NSW Rotary members. unfortunately the main chute for one toilet and the seats went missing in transport. these were replaced by the manufacturer FOC and should be going in shortly to finish the assembly although they are already being used. After all what are seats?
Cheers

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary's leadership training program for young people. RYLA participants can be ages 14-30, but most clubs and districts choose to focus on a narrower age range, such as 14-18 or 19-30.
RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth, and aims to
- Demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth
- Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders
- Encourage leadership of youth by youth
- Recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities
